Isabel Bethencourt is a filmmaker based in New York. She loves to tell intimate, visually-driven stories that speak to the communities and cultures around us – especially from the unique and flawed perspectives of youth, girlhood, and coming-of-age (at any age). Her style is rooted in a genuine connection with characters, and a passion for how their distinct humor and personalities make stories relatable. Her debut feature documentary, CUSP, premiered at Sundance and won a Special Jury Award before distribution by Showtime, as well as nominations for Best Cinematography by The American Society of Cinematographers and IDA Awards. Her latest film, EMBODIED, premiered in competition at Tribeca X in 2023 and will be distributed by Gravitas Ventures this year.
